WeLoveU Volunteers Come Together To Clean Bailey Avenue in the Bronx

Supporting Communities Through Environmental Protection

On Sunday, June 12, 2022, more than 70 WeLoveU volunteers partnered with New York City Councilmember Pierina Sanchez to clean Bailey Avenue in the Bronx. The cleanup was held in honor of World Environment Day, the United Nation’s principal platform to raise awareness about the importance of environmental protection. This was one of 12 cleanups held throughout the United States. Other cleanups happened in Illinois, Nebraska, Utah, Florida, California, Kansas, Texas, and Washington.

Bailey Avenue is a busy street connecting multiple neighborhoods. Residents began noticing visible signs of neglect and expressed their concern about the garbage and unchecked disposal. Understanding the importance of a clean shared space, volunteers stepped in and took the initiative to make a change. On Bailey Avenue, volunteers collected more than 120 bags of trash and debris that littered the street.

A Positive Mindset Brings Positive Change

Samantha Cardenas, Councilmember Sanchez’s chief of staff, was shocked at how diligent the volunteers were despite the rainy weather. She expressed her thanks by saying, “This is an extremely important movement for the health of our world. Taking care of it and giving back to it is something we must do. I also want to thank the Chairwoman for leading an amazing organization. Your volunteers and your team are fantastic.” Samantha participated in the cleanup, helping volunteers maintain their enthusiasm by sharing positive words.

WeLoveU is determined to impact the global village through volunteerism positively. A brighter future is possible when we care for our environment as our one and only home.

  2. This is really impressive. I’m sure the Bronx’s residents were more than appreciative. Their quality of life will improve from this seemingly small act. Awesome work volunteers!
