WeLoveU, Power Home Remodeling, and Officials Team Up for Vine City Cleanup

On Sunday, December 12, 2021, the International WeLoveU Foundation cleaned Fulton County’s Historic Vine City neighborhood. They partnered with Power Home Remodeling, Keep Atlanta Beautiful, and District 4 Commissioner Natalie Hall. Elected officials from District 3 and District 4 also joined the cleanup.

The 140 volunteers met at Rodney Cook Senior Park and set out with trash bags and pickers in hand. They worked energetically to clean up the trash in the community. Inspired by the volunteers, a few neighbors grabbed bags and began to help. In total, the group collected 60 bags of trash, 35 tires, a bicycle, sofa, mattress, and carpet, weighing approximately 1,500 lbs.

Community Outreach

In addition to the street cleanup efforts, volunteers raked leaves from neighbors’ yards. Vine City resident Carrie Salvary welcomed the volunteers, thanking them for their hard work clearing her yard of leaves.

“I’m happy to see young people doing this type of work and being very diligent about it,” Ms. Salvary said. She thanked the WeLoveU Foundation and Commissioner Natalie Hall for paying attention to District 4 residents.

The Gratitude of City Officials

The council members in attendance, touched by the energy and passion of the volunteers, repeatedly conveyed their appreciation. “You’re demonstrating love, the act of love by donating your time and your energy into this experience,” said Councilmember Michael Julian Bond, a Vine City native.

Atlanta Mayor-elect Andre Dickens arrived at the cleanup full of excitement and voiced his support for the WeLoveU volunteers. “This is the start of a cleaner city,” he said. “A clean city with a clean heart, a clean mind will get things done, and we’ll also get crime down when we are cleaner. People are going to be able to play in this park and in all the beautiful parks around here and will be able to walk up and down the streets because of your efforts.”

The Vine City cleanup is a part of the Clean WORLD Movement. Additional cleanups have taken place in Connecticut, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.

  1. It seems that the surroundings are getting brighter just like your hearts. If there were more people like this in the world, the society would be a better place.

  2. What an amazing turn out! It’s so refreshing to hear such good news! With so much bad news going on in the world, it’s so great to see such beautiful acts! It just goes to show that there is still good in this world! Continue to keep up the great works!
