NJ Volunteers Roll Up Their Sleeves at Raritan Bay Waterfront Park

More than 70 WeLoveU Foundation volunteers rolled up their sleeves to clean Raritan Bay Waterfront Park in South Amboy, NJ, on November 21, 2021, in partnership with Power Home Remodeling. The united effort led to the group collecting 65 bags of trash and bringing a fresh new look to the community’s bay area. The energy and cost-saving exterior remodeling company partnered with WeLoveU to participate in cleanups along the East Coast. In addition to New Jersey, cleanups were held in unison in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, and Pennsylvania.

The First to Clean the Raritan Bay Waterfront Park

The cleanup officially started at 11 a.m. Volunteers from WeLoveU and Power Home Remodeling formed a circle to receive instruction on where to clean. Before heading to the trail, Mayor Fred Henry and Clean Communities Officer Jay Elliot shared a few words. The mayor described how helpful the cleanup is because of the city’s plans to develop a ferry slip at the Raritan Bay Waterfront Park. “What’s happening is great for the City of South Amboy,” said Mayor Henry. “This is the first time people have come to this area to do something like this.”

Around 20 residents living in a nearby complex saw the volunteers cleaning and decided to join the action. They helped pick up plastic and litter, which cluttered the park. Nearing the cleanup’s completion, a Power Home Remodeling employee shared his experience volunteering with the WeLoveU Foundation. “(WeLoveU) makes cleaning up and volunteering so easy. All we had to do was go online and sign up, and suddenly, we walk into this incredibly welcoming environment. We’re excited to continue working with WeLoveU in the near future,” said Conor from Power Home Remodeling.

After the group photo, volunteers ate lunch provided by Elcha Eats. Next month, the WeLoveU Foundation and Power Home Remodeling will hold cleanups in Georgia and Florida.

  1. Like the employee from Power Home Remodeling said “WeLoveU makes cleaning up and volunteering so easy.” I have always loved joining these types of cleanups because they run so smoothly and accomplish a lot without wasting time. I am glad to see that many more cleanups will continue to be held.

  2. The Raritan Bay Waterfront Park is so beautiful! There is no room for trash but sometimes trash gets lost there, but thank you WeLoveU Foundation and Power House Remodeling for teaming up to keep the park beautiful and clean for the people and animals living there as well! I know next time people visit the Park they will feel so thankful that it is nice and clean!
