On November 21, 2021, the International WeLoveU Foundation and top exterior remodeling company Power Home Remodeling joined forces to clean Ceylon Park in Boston, MA.
Also joining the two organizations was Boston Parks and Recreation, which helped coordinate the cleanup. Rick Thompson from the department joined the Ceylon Park cleanup and described his experience working with WeLoveU since 2017. “They [WeLoveU] come here and do a fantastic job every single time. They have been with us for half a dozen years. This is my favorite group!” said Mr. Thompson.
WeLoveU Returns to Ceylon Park With Extra Help
About 70 volunteers arrived with their signature blue shirts. The last time WeLoveU cleaned Ceylon Park was in 2019 before the pandemic started. This time around, Power Home Remodeling employees used their volunteer time off to join WeLoveU in doing good for their Boston community. The partnership was seen in cleanups in multiple states, including Connecticut, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
“I wanted to be here to not only make a change and participate in something great like the WeLoveU Foundation, but I wanted to do it with my coworkers too,” expressed Kayla Howarth, business affairs coordinator for Power Home Remodeling.
All participants were given gloves, rakes, and trash bags. With everyone together, it was time to divide and conquer. Smaller teams were formed to clean different sections of the park. While cleaning, other volunteers set up panels in Ceylon Park for parkgoers to learn about WeLoveU. The panels explained the group’s mission statement, initiatives, and activities aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. By the afternoon, volunteers filled 224 bags with leaves and trash.
Then, Shane Henderson, remodeling consultant from Power Home Remodeling, described his first time volunteering with WeLoveU. “I couldn’t believe how positive everyone was. Everybody wanted to learn my name and about me. I don’t give back enough to my community, but it’s very important to Power Home Remodeling, and it’s just a great opportunity. I can’t wait to keep doing work with you.”

What an amazing clean up event! I was so excited to be able to lend a hand a second time to Ceylon Park together with Boston Parks and Recreation and Power Home Remodeling Group! Looking forward for another event.
