50 WeLoveU Foundation Volunteers Remove 240 lbs. From Mallery Playground in Philadelphia

In Philadelphia, Mallery Playground welcomed 50 WeLoveU Foundation volunteers on Sunday, July 18, 2021. Although the day was hot, volunteers worked with bright smiles on their faces. Starting at 10 a.m., they pulled up weeds and removed trash and graffiti. Their efforts were to help beautify the Germantown neighborhood that’s coming out of the pandemic. In total, they collected about 240 lbs. of trash from the playground and the recreation center.

With the WeLoveU Foundation volunteers was Councilmember Derek Green. He worked side by side with them, removing graffiti around an iconic mural. He said, “It’s an honor to partner with the WeLoveU Foundation in this regard, and I applaud their efforts in helping to keep America beautiful.”

The WeLoveU Foundation has been carrying out cleanups between June and July across the U.S. to restore various ecosystems neglected and damaged due to COVID-19. Clean spaces provide a sense of security and comfort as communities begin to reopen.

The councilman expressed his excitement about continuing a partnership with the WeLoveU Foundation. Many volunteers were excited to unite again after the pandemic for such a worthy cause for the community. WeLoveU is no stranger to the Philadelphia neighborhood. They have cleaned several areas, including Summerdale Avenue, McVeigh Recreation Center, George Washington Carver Center, and Tarken Park.

  3. The work of the WeLoveU Foundation is so touching. My children love to swing on the swings, but I always had concerns about the upkeep. Not anymore! The park is so much more welcoming and inviting now. To the volunteers – I am PROUD of each and every one of you!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, GUYS!
