The WeLoveU Foundation Teams Up With Vitalant to Donate Blood in Pittsburgh

On Sunday, February 7, 2021, the WeLoveU Foundation hosted a blood drive in Pittsburgh, PA, in partnership with Vitalant. Fifteen volunteers registered to donate blood. Since one pint of blood saves three lives, the donor’s efforts will help save 45 lives.

With COVID-19 cases rising, blood centers are seeing a drastic decline in blood donations. To help resolve the shortage, WeLoveU is holding blood drives nationwide throughout January and February. In Pittsburgh, the WeLoveU volunteers joined the national blood drive by pledging to lead their community to donate blood.

Participants in Pittsburgh were happy to spend a part of their day doing something nice. “I’m really thankful to have been able to take part in this national blood drive that the WeLoveU Foundation is hosting,” said Nicole, a WeLoveU volunteer. “Even just a little bit of my time today can save three lives, so I am thrilled to help. It feels great to be part of something big that is happening all across the country.”

A Word From Our Partner

Craig Prince, the donor recruitment representative for Vitalant, also expressed his gratitude to the donors and the impact these donations will have on the Pittsburgh community. He said, “Thank you, not only here in Pittsburgh, but across the USA and worldwide, for your dedication to make [blood] donations such an important part of your mission.” He continued, “The people that I have worked with and met at the WeLoveU Foundation have been nothing but outstanding. We have so many fantastic hospitals and an aging population that we have never been able to keep up with the demands of the hospitals. It’s awesome that we can partner with the WeLoveU Foundation. It is our first time partnering in Pittsburgh, so we are really excited.”

The WeLoveU volunteers in Pittsburgh hope to continue supporting their Pittsburgh family through activities like the blood drive with Vitalant.

  1. Great work WeLoveU! I am really happy to see WeLoveU volunteers continuing to serve the community despite the pandemic. As many blood drives have been canceled due to the pandemic, efforts like this are even more impactful and essential.
