WeLoveU Volunteers Pick Up 1,200 Pounds of Trash Along the East-West Connector

On Sunday, July 25, 2021, more than 120 volunteers of the International WeLoveU Foundation gathered to clean the East-West Connector in Austell, GA. The volunteers partnered with Keep Cobb Beautiful and Cobb County District 4 Commissioner Monique Sheffield. The group set out on Austell Road, Hicks Road, and Floyd Road, removing debris from bushes, ditches, and roadsides.

The area of the East-West Connector cleaned by the volunteers is a major commercial district with surrounding residential neighborhoods. The volunteers disposed of 1,200 pounds of litter and four tires. Residents displayed their enthusiasm and support by honking their horns, waving, and thanking the group for their efforts.

Commissioner Sheffield Cleans With WeLoveU Volunteers

Despite the Georgia heat, the volunteers were energetic, excited, and ready to work. Commissioner Sheffield joined the cleanup and spoke of its impact on the community. “The cleanup will have a very positive impact on the community because regardless of where you live, everybody wants to live in a clean environment. It is my hope that when people see that they are living in a clean environment that they are less likely to toss trash.”

“It’s no wonder that the name of the organization is called WeLoveU because some of their efforts have to come from a place of love,” said Commissioner Sheffield when speaking about the WeLoveU volunteer’s attitude while cleaning.

Keep Cobb Beautiful Joins the Cleanup Effort

Barry Krebs, board chair of Keep Cobb Beautiful, felt inspired by the cleanup efforts. He expressed his wish to continue the partnership with WeLoveU. As a county resident, he was grateful for the cleanup, saying, “Thank you for everything you do. We really appreciate your efforts.”

The cleanup was a part of the International WeLoveU Foundation’s Clean WORLD Movement. In 2021, WeLoveU’s launched a nationwide cleanup campaign to help locations remove trash accumulated from COVID-19. The volunteers will continue to work with Cobb County and other counties in the state of Georgia to promote a cleaner world.
