WeLoveU Leads Volunteer Efforts in San Francisco’s Mission District

On Sunday, July 2, 2023, the International WeLoveU Foundation held two cleanups in San Francisco, CA. Over 180 participants from various chapters, including San Francisco, Sacramento, San Jose, San Diego, and Reno, united to restore the natural beauty of Golden Gate Park in the morning. During the second half of the day, volunteers held a street cleanup in the Mission District in partnership with Refuse Refuse and State Senator Scott Wiener in San Francisco, CA. The effort was part of WeLoveU’s Clean WORLD Movement.

The Mission District, renowned for its vibrant cultural heritage, witnessed an outpouring of support from the community as volunteers united to combat the prevalent issue of littered streets. Dividing into ten teams, the participants rolled up their sleeves and demonstrated enthusiasm for their cause. Among the attendees was Professor Samuel McCormick from San Francisco State University, a resident and community service organizer in the Mission District, who declared, “We’re going to gather up all the trash bags, put them in a pile here, and then we’ll celebrate!”

By the end of the day, approximately 550 pounds of trash had been collected, leaving the Mission District visibly transformed. California State Senator Scott Weiner expressed his gratitude to the volunteers, acknowledging their significant contribution to “keeping the streets of San Francisco clean.” The event marked a monumental achievement, with over 700 volunteer hours of community service dedicated to creating a cleaner environment for the city’s residents.

Wow, this really encouraged me to help clean the environment, even in my district of New York! This is a great example.

  2. There’s no better organization than We Love You to do such awesome and amazing work for the community! Good job!!
