The International WeLoveU Foundation greeted the Meadowcreek Mustangs on their first day of school on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. Volunteers provided new backpacks and school supply kits to 890 students at Meadowcreek Elementary School in Norcross, GA.

The supplies were donated to alleviate the financial burden of back-to-school shopping and equip students with tools for success. The cost of school supplies has steadily increased due to record-high inflation rates. Now more than ever, school supply donations are needed to support students and schools with limited funding.

A United Message of Love

Principal Adrienne Tedesco, Congresswoman Lucy McBath, Board of Education District V Chairperson Dr. Tarece Johnson-Morgan, District II Commissioner Ben Ku’s team member, and teachers attended the donation ceremony.

The message of love was consistent among the volunteers, principal and special guests. Congresswoman McBath delivered a message of encouragement, expressing her love for the students and excitement for their futures.

Dr. Johnson-Morgan said she felt inspired by the events of the day. “It was so wonderful to walk into this space. When I learned the story about the founder and the organization, I was so moved, touched, and inspired by the mission and the vision of this organization and its impact, not just in Georgia but in the world.”

The students of Meadowcreek Elementary lined up to select from assorted designs and colors of backpacks. Commissioner Ku’s team showed their support by presenting a proclamation to the volunteers. The donation at Meadowcreek Elementary is part of the WeLoveU Packs on Backs & Tools for Schools education initiative. In 2023, WeLoveU will donate backpacks to schools in California, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
