WeLoveU Volunteers Plant Fruit Trees in San Francisco’s Mother Farm

On May 7, 2023, the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation from the San Francisco chapter partnered with Planting Justice to plant trees at the Four Acre Mother Farm in El Sobrante, CA.  Over 30 volunteers rallied together to support the newest WeLoveU campaign: Mom’s Garden Project. The goal of Mom’s Garden Project is to plant 155,000 trees in 2023 and 1 million trees by 2026.

It’s estimated that one mature tree can absorb anywhere from 22 to 48 pounds of carbon dioxide every year. By planting 1 million trees, WeLoveU aims to help achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and create a sustainable world to keep the Earth green. The Four Acre Mother Farm is home to a collection of fruit trees and shrubs. With the help of the WeLoveU volunteers, over 25 trees were planted, and cuttings from these trees will be transported to a nearby nursery.

Edgar Rosales, the district coordinator of Contra Costa County, stopped by to share words of encouragement with the WeLoveU volunteers. “The work that you are doing here is not going to affect one day, but it’s a legacy that you are creating,” he said. He also said, “To the Chairwoman, thank you for all the work you are doing with WeLoveU Foundation. The fruits of your labor are going to affect generations to come.”

The Mom’s Garden Project encourages community involvement and inspires people to take action toward a more sustainable Earth. This project on Four Acre Mother Farm aligns with WeLoveU’s mission to identify and solve environmental concerns in our communities.

The maintenance of the Mother Farm gives hope by showing that it’s possible to have a farm in a city, and it provides residents with local, organic produce to keep their families healthy. By partnering with like-minded organizations, WeLoveU will continue toward a brighter future in El Sobrante and around the world.
