On Sunday, November 20, 2022, the volunteers of the Philadelphia Chapter of the International WeLoveU Foundation gathered in the City of Chester, PA, to participate in a collaborative community cleanup with Power Home Remodeling. The groups cleaned a similar area in Chester last year.

Chester is the oldest city in Pennsylvania and home to Power Home Remodeling’s headquarters. It is located in Delaware County, where residents enjoy being alongside the historic Delaware River. The volunteers gathered near Chester High School at 10 a.m., enjoying hot coffee and snacks before dividing into cleaning groups. Although the weather was bitter, the volunteers’ hearts burned with enthusiasm as they picked up the litter in the park areas and removed trash along the road and the surrounding areas of the school. 

While some volunteers cleaned, others supported by driving around the neighborhood to pick up the trash bags the teams left on street corners. One of the volunteers from Power Home Remodeling mentioned that though he has come across many groups, he could tell the WeLoveU volunteers were just good people. Though the cleanup lasted a short period, more than 50 trash bags were collected through the power of unity. The day ended with a joint group photo with Power Home Remodeling volunteers in a loud, exciting cheer.

Additional collaborative cleanups occurred throughout November in Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. The volunteers hope to encourage their communities to join the efforts to build a cleaner world for the present and future generations.
