Feed The Hunger Food Drive & Welcome Ceremony in Union Square Park

On September 13, 2012, International WeLoveU Foundation volunteers put together more than 300, 50 lbs boxes of canned goods and personally delivered them to the homes of seniors living in poverty. Many of the seniors lived alone and suffered from depression. This kickoff event in Liberty State Park was to inform the local community of WeLoveU’s work and to get others involved.

More than 1.7 million New Yorkers live in poverty, struggling to afford basic necessities and suffering from hunger and malnutrition. As the recession has affected the global economy, New Yorkers have been hit hard, but City Harvest helps to put food on the table for more than 2 million New Yorkers every year.
