On August 22, 2024, the WeLoveU Foundation participated in a back-to-school event at Roberto Clemente Middle School in Philadelphia. From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., the foundation distributed new headphones, pencils, and folders to 250 students, ensuring they were well-prepared for the upcoming school year. Roberto Clemente Middle School, which serves students in grades six through eight, partnered with WeLoveU to set up a Packs on Backs table for the event.
Families who attended the outdoor event enjoyed a barbecue, mingled with one another, and received much-needed school supplies. The event drew notable attendees, including Councilwoman Lozada and William Garcia, the Latino engagement officer for the Mayor of Philadelphia. Their presence highlighted the community’s support for the initiative.
Principal Zackary Lewis expressed his gratitude to the WeLoveU Foundation during the event. He remarked, “When I think of the WeLoveU Foundation, I think of my mother and how she did everything so I could be successful. Today, the WeLoveU Foundation is making sure the students have everything they need to be successful.” He added, “You’re making mothers smile, and you’re making kids smile. Because of partnerships with the WeLoveU Foundation, we can ensure that students are happy and healthy at school.” The excitement was palpable among the teachers, who were just as eager as the students to receive the supplies.
This event is part of a broader initiative by WeLoveU to provide new backpacks and supplies to students in need. From August to September, the foundation plans to deliver these essentials across multiple states, including Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., and Florida.
