WeLoveU Donates 260 Backpacks to San Francisco’s Bryant Elementary School

On Monday, August 21, 2023, the International WeLoveU Foundation greeted the students at Bryant Elementary School in San Francisco, California, with backpacks. Returning from summer vacation and beginning a new school year, the pre-kindergarten through fifth-grade students were welcomed by a donation ceremony of 260 backpacks. The event was held as part of WeLoveU’s Packs on Backs and Tools for Schools program. Over 250 students, parents, faculty, and special guests were in attendance.

The School’s Need for Packs on Backs

Bryant Elementary School’s minority student enrollment is 98%, and the school enrolls 75% economically disadvantaged students. With the rising cost of living and inflation, the backpack donation was gladly welcomed by the students, parents, and faculty. In a warm gesture of appreciation, the students presented a “Thank You” poster with hand drawings and words of thanks. Daisy, a parent, said, “This backpack drive gives kids a better opportunity to feel welcomed and excited for school.”

Support From Special Guests

Salleha Chaudry, head of education modernization with META, was in attendance and spoke encouraging words to the students. She motivated them with bright expectations for the school year. Regina Piper, executive director of the San Francisco Unified School District, was also in attendance. She said, “As a leader in our school district, I think having the support of organizations to invest in our students, in our schools, is really important. Our students feel seen and valued, and they get to go to school with a really nice backpack. Again, thank you for your support!” Principal Laura Juarez Codicetti echoed this sentiment and continued to express her sincere gratitude for the donation.

  4. I work in elementary, middle, high, and adult schools. Very often, we see many children in need of school supplies, and even daily necessities. Every gift counts, and every effort really does make a difference in someone’s life. Zahng Gil-Jah has really done an amazing job at organizing these events and even motivating people all over the globe to willingly sacrifice their early mornings to give love. It’s phenomenal. I’m proud to be part of this organization.
