On Sunday, March 2, 2025, the International WeLoveU Foundation hosted its 694th Worldwide Blood Drive in Salt Lake City, UT, at the Salt Lake County Center, in partnership with the American Red Cross. About 150 volunteers participated and successfully collected 104 units of blood, which have the potential to save about 312 lives.

“You really came through for patients!” exclaimed Tim Schwen, Red Cross Account Manager. “Right now, in this region, there is a critical need, which would be worse if the WeLoveU Foundation hadn’t stepped up.” The American Red Cross reports that every two seconds, someone in the United States requires blood. As donations fluctuate seasonally, drives like this are vital.

“What you did, what you are doing, and what you continue to do for underserved communities, for everyone, is truly amazing,” said Mary Navalta-Chavan, President of the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Utah. Speaking about WeLoveU’s founder, Zahng Gil-jah, she added, “You had nothing, yet you always had something to give. Thank you so much.”

One-Two Blood Drive Movement

WeLoveU’s commitment to blood donation dates back to 2004, when volunteers began practicing voluntary, non-remunerated blood donation. Today, the organization continues this mission through the One-Two Blood Drive Movement, encouraging individuals to donate blood and inspire others to do the same. The campaign aims to create a ripple effect: one donor inspires two, and those two inspire four, spreading the impact. At each blood drive, participants express their joy in giving back to the community.

The 694th Worldwide Blood Drive in Salt Lake City was no different. In addition to donating blood, participants enjoyed live performances, games, and informational panels about blood donation. The event’s lively atmosphere fostered a spirit of generosity. One guest even mentioned they would make this an annual practice with the WeLoveU Foundation.
