Delivering Water To Communities in Need
The winter storm Uri left Texas in a state of emergency. The cold weather caused pipelines to break, properties to flood, power outages, and a water shortage statewide. The historic storm forced families to battle freezing temperatures and limited accessibility to running water. In emergency relief efforts, the International WeLoveU Foundation partners with WSS and Reebok to donate 6,000 water cases to families affected by the extreme winter snowstorm.
Day 1
The local chapters of WeLoveU in Texas, alongside chapters in New York, Chicago, California, Florida, Georgia, and Connecticut, worked together with WSS and Reebok to deliver water to communities in need. Over 100 volunteers from the WeLoveU Foundation joined the emergency relief efforts lasting two days. On Thursday, February 25, 2021, volunteers set up tents at selected WSS stores in Arlington and Dallas for families to pick up a free case of water. Starting at 9 a.m., 2,000 water cases had been distributed to families in need, until supplies lasted.
Day 2
The next day, 4,000 cases of water were ready for pickup at participating WSS stores in Houston and Pasadena. The line of cars continually grew throughout the day as Texas families drove by to pick up water. Texas residents directly impacted by the winter storm expressed the water donation’s significance and the meaning it had on their lives. “This water donation is saving our lives,” said a Houston resident.
You’re Not Alone, Texas: A Message of Encouragement
At the end of the two-day water donation, Texas families received 6,000 cases of water. Not just water, but residents also received a message of care and encouragement from WeLoveU and partners WSS and Reebok. The families in Texas are still recovering from the extreme winter weather aftermath. WeLoveU hopes those they met are encouraged through the small act of service so they do not feel alone.

What an amazing event hosted by the International WeLoveU Foundation! It definitely was not an easy time to cope with everything from Covid to power outages and lack of resources and what was done for the Texans gave much hope and love to the desperate communities in need of water. Incredible work!

What an amazing event! I was really happy to be able to attend. Although the whole country is aware of the hardships that Texans went through, seeing it in person is different. Being able to make a difference in the lives of community members was a heartwarming experience. So many people were really in need of the water handed out by WeLoveU and WSS. Great work!
